Weeding in Cemeteries without using Chemical Pesticides

Weed control in areas such as cemeteries can be more complex than it seems. We can encounter different types of obstacles, restricted spaces or legal constraints.

Indeed, when it comes to weed control in cemeteries, there can be many reasons to use alternatives to chemicals. The advantages of non chemical equipment include the safe use near water courses, the ability to use in all weathers, the ability to use without expensive certification as well as their benefits to the environment.

However, there are different types of thermal weeding equipment, ranging from hot water weeders to infrared heaters and burners and not all are best suited to the long rows of graves stones, or the difficult access requirements some sites provide. It is therefore necessary to use the right tools to weed these areas while saving time and energy.

The Ripagreen tools, working with high velocity hot air, are equipped with a patented technology that transforms ambient air into intense heat. The Ripagreen lance works with 94% ambient air, which is mixed with approximately 6% propane gas (figures may change depending on weather conditions). This combination creates a short, rigid flame, which then becomes a blade of hot air. This will allow you to treat the weeds by instantly heating the plant, which will stop photosynthesis and cause the plant to wilt.

Ripagreen MOBILITY KIT

Among our range of products, the Mobility kit, which uses the Ripagreen lance and a bottle holder harness, is the one that will allow you to reach the smallest areas that can be found in cemeteries, such as the spaces between graves for example.

Moreover, thanks to its double function bracket, carrying the lance is considerably easier and the working circumference is extended to 2 meters. This amplitude will help you to treat the desired area in an ergonomic way and in a short time.

Ripagreen EASY + KIT

The Easy + kit can also be used in cemeteries. Thanks to its trolley, lance and harness, it is easy to weed alleys and paths as well as the edges of graves. The trolley can accommodate a 13 kg bottle, thus providing greater autonomy for larger working areas. It can be easily moved along paths and steps thanks to the trolley’s 4 wheels. The harness holds the lance and allows you to work with a small gas cylinder if necessary.

Eco Weedkiller GARDEN

The Eco Weedkiller Garden uses Hot Water to provide the thermal weed treatment. This is more precise and safer in areas next to very dry flammable material or where gas cannot be used. The water is heated by electricity. Once heated it can be disconnected, making it entirely portable for travelling on site. The machine will keep water at the correct temperature for weeding for a couple of hours.

Hoaf WEEDAIR 50i

For larger areas, such as paths and car park areas the Hoaf Weedair range come into their own.

The Weedair 50i is a popular machine for treating gravel areas, especially where safety is paramount.

The inset burner heats the air under the hood to roughly 500 - 600 degrees, allowing you to pass over small plants fairly quickly. A 13kg gas bottle can be fitted to the machine, giving it a greater duration of use.

Thermal weed management techniques can be yield better results by using them as part of an integrated strategy - using a mix of preventative maintenance approaches, such as detritus management and brushing.
